PD Update from Susan Sarfaty, Regional Superintendent, ROE

Greetings MEA!

Please take a few moments to read the 2 updates below from the ROE regarding PD.

Welcome Back!
Summer has certainly flown by and your first day of school is just around the corner.  This summer legislation was passed to change some things associated with your license.  This email deals only with a changes in Professional Development (PD).  I will address other topics is future emails, but PD is relevant to all PEL and ELS Provisional educators.
1.  As expected, the 60 day limit to enter your completed professional development in ELIS has been removed.  The only limit to when you can enter PD is date to submit your Statement of Assurance (SOA) on-line in ELIS at the end of your five year cycle. By the way, ELIS is still not perfect.  Please remember to check your personal account.  If you find errors, please call Norma (825-3912) or Donna (825-3913) for assistance.  As long as IL is without a budget, ISBE will not have programmers who can fix these problems, but they are making a list of them.
2.  The list of approved PD providers has grown a bit.  To check on out the Approved Provider list, please see: http://www.isbe.state.il.us/licensure/requirements/prof-dev-provider-list.pdf
I hope this will be your best school year yet!  Thanks for what you do every day for kids!
Yours in education,

Susan Sarfaty
Regional Superintendent
St. Clair County Regional Office of Education
